FREEZE CHARTS PRODUCED USING THE BOVet CREATIONS FREEZERS IN THE TAYLOR WHARTON CP190 (NOW CP300) SHIPPER WITH 1 ADDED BLOCK SCREWED ON
No stem hole changes.  Number 5 is 0°C and each line is 1°C (10°C per inch).  
Chart speed is 4 inches per hour.  Hold for seeding at stem #5.

 

Large Freezer and Stabilizer LN2 @ 27cm.  Freeze @ 13.  Avg. Freeze Rate = .6°C/min.  Rm T = 85°F

Large Freezer and Stabilizer LN2 @ 15.5cm.  Freeze @ 13.  Avg. Freeze Rate = .6°C/min.  Rm T = 95°F

Large Freezer and Stabilizer LN2 @ 0cm.  All absorbed 3+ days.  Freeze @ 13.  Avg. Freeze Rate = .61°C/min.  Rm T = 84°F

OBSERVATIONS

 

There was no change in freezer position in any of these freezer runs.

The added block brought the freezer up higher in the neck of the tank 2 holes making handling of straws easier.

There is less variation of the actual curve from the average than observed when no block was added.

Room temperature extremes can affect the curve.  (Stem above tank absorbs heat or cold and passes on to the freezer block.)

The level of excess LN2 that was not absorbed into the wall of the tank did not effect the freeze rate.
